The Research Centre UNIZA, in collaboration with the Department of Power Engineering and the ENET Centre at VSB – Technical University of Ostrava, focused on the thermal degradation of waste from face masks and respirators through pyrolysis under various thermal conditions.
Pyrolysis enabled the recovery of valuable solid, liquid, and gaseous products from the waste material. This research lays the groundwork for optimizing pyrolysis as a method for generating value-added products, thereby contributing both to waste volume reduction and the development of alternative energy sources. The results of this study were published in the renowned scientific journal Scientific Data (Q1, Impact Factor 6.9).
