Tím The team of the Department of Materials Science came up with a new use of intensive surface plastic deformation methods to increase the application possibilities of ultra-light alloys made of aluminium with lithium.
Thanks to the combination of suitable surface hardening and heat treatment, it was possible to change the type and distribution of the resulting hardening precipitates in the surface layer, thereby increasing the material's resistance to repeated mechanical stress. The results of the aforementioned research, which was carried out in co-operation with the Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic and the Technical University of Milan, were published in the renowned Journal of Materials Research and Technology (Q1, impact factor 6.3).
