The Research Center UNIZA is participating in the international OPERATE project, developed under the Horizon Europe program. The project focuses on smart buildings and on linking their energy efficiency to the needs, behavior, and comfort of users.
The goal of the project is to develop and validate approaches to the operation of smart buildings using sensor data, IoT, BEMS, digital modeling, and adaptive control. The solutions will be tested in real-world pilot buildings across various European countries.
On behalf of the UNIZA Research Center, the Department of Renewable Energy Sources and the Department of Sensor Systems will participate in the project. The principal investigator for the project at the center will be Assoc. Prof. Ing. Pavol Belány, PhD. His areas of expertise include, among others, energy systems, smart buildings, and renewable energy sources.
The UNIZA Research Center will also lead Work Package WP4 in the project, which focuses on pilot buildings, technical monitoring, sensor data collection protocols, and the integration of IoT and BEMS data. A pilot building in Žilina is also part of the project.
